Welcome to Deep Cabaret
WHEN MYSTERY RISES LIKE RIVER MIST CALLING TO BECOME PRAYER, BECOME US.
The page turns. A chapter closes. Deep Cabaret evolves, decomposing, emergent.
As it always has, brought on by circumstance or the ripeness of time.
“Life Keep Coming. Death Keeps It Going”
Deep Cabaret (aka Steve Lewis) continues as a solo project.

Deep Cabaret’s solo recordings “How Terribly Strange” (2024) and “My Many Companions” (2026) are available on Bandcamp. Together they tell the story of his collaborative conversations with Mystery - the mythopoetic encounters and shamanic journeyings that are guiding a shift from egocentric to ecocentric artistry.

My Many Companions : The Spring ‘26 Tour is an experiment in collaboration.
Knowing he needed to share this work in nature, Steve contacted his ‘wild’ tribe,
people he loves and respects who love and respect the land.
He asked if they knew of special spots where people might gather
for an intimate invocation of incantation and enchantment.
And so it comes to be.
Solo voice and guitar casting spells, telling stories, straightforward and allusive.
Music as offering, to and on the Land , that aims to serve the ecosystem
of nature, community, and creativity.
All present moving between participant, audience, witness and congregation.
Deep Cabaret’s “My Many Companions” Tour of deeply Cherished Lands.
Sharing a personal, animistic response to our environmental crisis
as a way of inviting you back to loving the living world.
An offering of reciprocal attention that might just be memorable for all concerned.
See ‘Gigs’ for Details.

MATCHLESS
Matchless is our limited edition album recorded at RealWorld studios, produced by Justin Adams, supported by Arts Council England .
An entrancement of riffs and drone sirening out of the intertidal mudflats and cowbelly quicksands of Morecambe Bay.
Desert blues improv and noir-drenched drone songs; hurdies, bagpipes, throat singing, cello, bass clarinet and drums making sparkling jazz, rooted folk and torching vocals.
Lyrics sampled from literature, science, sitcoms, whatever has something worth hearing to say about being human.
Punters say: "Gorgeous and stirring", "Wonderful and invigorating’
