STEVE LEWIS is an improviser who has dedicated his life, as a musician, therapist and writer, to the existential trinity of uncertainty, imagination and making it up as you go along.

His explorations of environmental music were recognised in the award of a Year of the Artist grant   to Living Room , a duo with guitarist James Wood, which performs instant song in people's living rooms. He was invited to play the building at the opening off the prestigious Lowry Centre.

His solo work uses voice, live sampling and bric-a-brac percussion. The One , which considered what torch song and Sufi poetry have to say about the links between romantic and spiritual love, toured nationally in 2001.
