The newest Deep Cabaret project Orchestre D.C. Dansette is quite simply a dance band. Inspired chiefly by the music of the African continent, from the drive of Congolese soukous and Kenyan benga to the mellower styles of Malian kora or Ethiopian music. Guitar driven but with a jazz-anchored horn section and lyrics taken from the likes of presidential speeches, newspaper reviews and philosophical treatises, this is joyously inauthentic and idiosyncratic dance music!

Usually a 7-piece but can be 4-9 built round the rhythm section of:

Steve Lewis v, gtr, electronic perc Sam Dale   gtr, perc

Dave Shooter bass Ben McCabe   drms, v & the DC horns

Pete Moser   flugelhorn, accordion Chris Bridges   trombone Joanna Mangona   alto sax with occasional guest Jon Moore guitar & others

Orchestre DC Dansette is available for public hire. So new we're still looking for a good photo. You can sample some of our music here though. Recorded live at our second public gig 12 th Jan 2008 at Stonewell Tavern, Lancaster. So fresh you can smell the sweat!
